Our Story

The Coffee Company began in 1997 in the heart of downtown Elizabethton, Tennessee. Originally opened by John and Lisa Bunn, the shop brought specialty coffee to the community with a mission to create connection and comfort in a small mountain town.

In 2018, ownership passed to Frankie Bailey, who continues that legacy with fresh vision and a deep love for people, hospitality, and Elizabethton itself.

Today, The Coffee Company is more than a coffee shop—it’s a cornerstone. A local landmark. A place where life happens.

Great question! If you’re craving a hot latte, a fresh sandwich, or a sweet treat—Café Ordering is for you. You’ll be taken to our online menu where you can order ahead for pickup or get it delivered through Uber Eats or Grubhub (just like calling in, but faster). Shopping Online, on the other hand, is where you’ll find all our coffee by the pound. That’s where you can subscribe for regular deliveries or grab a bag of your favorite roast to brew at home—shipped straight to your porch, no matter where you live.
Around here, we don’t just serve coffee—we serve comfort. Each bag of coffee from our Coffee Club is hand-packed with care right here in our shop in East Tennessee, inspired by the cozy feeling of sitting on the front porch with your favorite people. Our blends are smooth, balanced, and full of flavor, just like Grandma would’ve brewed ‘em.
All our coffee is roasted in small batches right here in Elizabethon, Tennessee. We work closely with trusted roasters who understand the way we like our coffee—full-bodied, flavorful, and never bitter. It’s the same roast we serve daily in our shop, and we’re proud to ship that same quality to porches all over the country.
You bet. We ship our coffee fresh and fast using priority shipping, so it gets to your door while it’s still at its peak. Whether you live down the road or across the country, we make sure every bag tastes like you just picked it up from our counter.

Loved this place!! Loved the atmosphere. All the people were extremely friendly and helpful ( wait staff and patrons). Coffee was fabulous along with the treats we ordered. We will be visiting the area again and will definitely be stopping by this place each and every day we're there!!

This is definitely tied as one of my favorite coffee places in the tri cities. The atmosphere is fantastic and is definitely the kind of place you can spend all day at. Coffee was fantastic, very flavorful but not too sweet and still have a bold bitterness that coffee should have, the seasonal menus is so cool and really creative with combinations I’ve never seen before.
